Newspapers form the basis of the mass media used in the XIX. century. The Ottoman Empire
also used newspapers in order to establish a bond with its people and to keep the
communication between the center and the countryside strong. In this study, the 1875
Herzegovina Revolt, which took place in the second half of the XIX. century and eroded the
Ottoman Empire in every aspect, was examined through the Bosnian Newspaper. Online
access was provided through the Gazi Hüsrev Bey Library in Sarajevo and the numbers of the
Bosnian Newspaper were examined. There are also media organs among the primary sources
for the determination of historical events. For this reason, the Bosnian Newspaper has been
considered as the primary source. This thesis aims to contribute to the studies carried out in the
field of 1875 Herzegovina Revolt, which constitutes the main element of the Eastern Question,
within the scope of the history of press.
