Depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder and anxiety disorders can seriously impair functionality. Studies have shown that there are common mechanisms in the emergence of these disorders. This study discussed unpredictability beliefs, family unpredictability, locus of control, intolerance of uncertainty, emotional regulation difficulties, and coping styles. Before the main study, the adaptation study of the Scale of Unpredictability Beliefs into Turkish was carried out by conducting a preliminary study. In the main study, a model created with transdiagnostic variables that play a role in the emergence of depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder and anxiety disorders was tested. The sample of the preliminary study consisted of 563 people, while the sample of the main study consisted of 795 people. Based on the preliminary study findings, it was concluded that the Scale of Unpredictability Beliefs is valid and reliable for use in the Turkish sample. The model tested in the main study explained a significant part of the variance in psychological symptoms. In addition to various limitations, it is thought that this thesis has important contributions to the field by introducing a new measurement tool into our language, examining the relationships between unpredictability beliefs and various variables for the first time, and bringing together many transdiagnostic factors related to psychological symptoms. Additionally, it provides valuable information for clinicians as it provides a basis for intervention programs targeting many transdiagnostic mechanisms. In addition, the variation of the functionality of behavioral patterns according to the context was discussed, and it was pointed out that negative experiences such as environmental unpredictability could become a predisposition factor for both psychological resilience and psychopathologies.
