This study examines the distribution of style classification studies conducted within the
framework of biology teaching according to the determined criteria. A general analysis of
the style-based master's and doctoral dissertations and articles including the teaching of
biology subjects, which were made in Turkey between the years 1990-2021, was carried
out. A descriptive study was conducted using the qualitative research method. In the study,
theses were obtained from the YÖK Ulusal Tez Merkezi database, and the articles were
obtained from the electronic resource of TÜBİTAK ULAKBİLİM TR Dizin by using the
keywords determined by the researcher. At the end of the document analysis, a total of 133
theses, including 107 master's theses and 26 doctoral theses, and 95 articles were included
in the research. Only the theses and articles that are open to full-text form access have
been reviewed. The content analysis of the data was carried out by means of the "Article
Survey Form" and "Thesis Survey Form" prepared by the researcher. The findings are
presented with descriptive statistics (frequency – percentage values) in the form of
determined themes, categories, subcategories and codes. Three main results were
identified in the study: the diversity of style classifications, the complexity caused by the
classification of these classifications into different types and dimensions, and the conceptual
confusion arising from the definition and use of the word of style. These identified results
were associated with biology discipline and style-based teaching.
