In this study the definitions of leader-member exchange and job performance have
been analyzed. The influence of leader-member exchange level of the staff on
their job performance has been investigated. The research was conducted with
121 member-staff working in a company that public institution's educational unit for
providing service. The data were collected by applying "Leader-Member Exchange
Scale” (Pellegrini & Scandura, 2012) and "Self-appraisal Approach Scale”
(Darwish, 2000) to participants. The purpose of the study is to determine the
influence of the leader-member exchange of the staff on their job performance. It
was found that the leader-member exchange level of the members is "very high",
job performance level of the members is "high". According to the findings, it was
determined that there is a positive, statistically significant and “medium” level of
relationship between the leader-member exchange level of the staff and their job
performance. The analysis made for determining the impact of the leader-member
exchange level of the members on their job performance level is statistically
significant. It has been seen that the level of leader-member exchange as a
determinant has “low” level of impact on explaining job performance level of the
members.
