This thesis examines the issue of empathy in Bilge Karasu's stories. Empathy is the process by which a person puts himself in the place of the other person and looks at things from his point of view, understands and feels the feelings and thoughts of that person correctly, and conveys this situation to him. Empathy is in the field of study of many disciplines today. Empathy has cognitive and emotional aspects. Empathy, which is a mental ability of humans, also plays an important role in human-created literary works. Empathy in literary works increases the power and aesthetic depth of the work. The structure of the works with a high empathic aspect is also strengthened. Studies on empathy in literary works have focused on Einfühlung and Reception Aesthetics. In this thesis, the works of Bilge Karasu will be examined through the concept of empathy. In this context, with the method in which the theories of Einfühlung and Reception aesthetics are applied in a mixed way, empathy; The contribution of the depth that Bilge Karasu added to his works to the content of the work and its contribution to the reflection of emotions and thoughts in the works will be discussed. It will be examined how empathy emerges in post-modern narrative techniques and forms, in the interaction between characters and in the identification between the reader and the work.
