Türk Erkekleriyle Evlenmiş ve Türkiye’de Yaşamakta Olan Çinli Kadınların Sosyal Uyum Süreçleri Üzerine Bir Araştırma

This study is a qualitative research on the marriages between Chinese women and Turkish men and the adaptation of Chinese women in Turkish society. In recent years, with the spread of international marriages around the world, some Chinese women choose to marry a Turkish man and settle in Turkey. Living in Turkey for Chinese women provides a brand new life experience in terms of Turkish language learning, food culture, religious belief, cultural traditions and lifestyle. This study takes an example of Chinese women who have married Turkish men to research the reasons for the marriages between these Chinese women and Turkish men, the difficulties that these Chinese women faced in their life in Turkey from the perspectives of Turkish learning, food culture, religious beliefs, family life, social life and relationships, professional life, political life, and cultural shocks they experienced in the process of adaptation to Turkish society, it is aimed to inquiry their integration with Turkish society and discuss how they cope with the problems facing in which they are adapting to Turkish society.
The data for this study have been collected between August 25 and October 10, 2020 by indepth interviews with 32 Chinese women who have made an international marriage with Turkish men and live in Turkey (large cities in Turkey such as Ankara, Istanbul, Konya, Antalya). Then, MAXQDA20 qualitative analysis program have been chosen as the method of analyzing ve evaluating the data.
As a result of the analysis of these data obtained during the interview, firstly, it turned out that these Chinese women who settle in Turkey mostly have met with Turkish men through either classmates, colleagues, a mutual circle of friends or the internet, and because of love married their Turkish spouses. As they have given great importance to the elements of "love" and "feeling", when deciding to marry a Turkish man, they emphasized the personality of Turkish man, whether his family was happy and harmonious, whether they had common topics and a similar outlook on life. Secondly, it is found that these Chinese women faced some difficulties to a certain extent in the process of adapting to Turkish society, but they could basically adapt to Turkish social life by adopting a diversified adaptation strategy that exists with integration and separation. In addition to, it should be pointed out in the research that although the the Chinese women' s the identity and belongings to the Turkish society is not very strong in the integration with the Turkish society, they are satisfied with their current life situation, and in terms of whether continuing to stay in Turkey in the future, most of them prefer to continue to live in Turkey instead of returning to China. The reason is taht there are many attractive factors for them to stay in Turkey
