In this thesis, the life experiences of young women who have been sexually abused in their childhood were examined regarding the social services they received during the institutional care process and their experiences after leaving the institutional care. The study is thought to be important due to it has a holistic perspective covering all periods of young women's lives in the context of childhood, detection of sexual abuse, experiences after detection, institutional care process and services, experiences and problems after institutional care, and also it is based on women's life experiences. The main problem of the research is “What are the therapeutic effects of social work practices according to the experiences of young women who were victims of sexual abuse in their childhood?” The holistic approach of the research was continued with sub-questions related to this question. In order to reach the research data, the life history inquiry was used in the qualitative research design. In the research, semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted with twelve young women who were placed in the institution after being exposed to sexual abuse and whose institutional care period ended. Four main themes were reached in the analysis. Under the theme of Childhood, family dynamics, characteristics of family members takes place, findings related to law enforcement officers, contact with teachers, secondary trauma, role of first step centers and attitude of family under the theme of detection of sexual abuse, under the theme of the institutional care process regarding child sexual abuse and the effectiveness of the services, there are findings the evaluation of the participants regarding the services provided in the institution such as admission to the institution, education, health, psychosocial support, legal support, nutrition, control, security, exit from the institution, and the effectiveness of these services, and in the last theme: life experiences after institutional care, there are findings related to housing problems, economic problems, social problems, coping processes, effectiveness of social support mechanisms, marriage and motherhood experiences faced by young women. Finally, the thesis was completed by giving suggestions about different sectors and social services that take an active role in the detection of sexual abuse, the process of institutional care and post-processing. It is thought that the thesis will make important contributions to the development of social services for children who are victims of sexual abuse.
