The subject matter of this thesis is the Late Antique bath buildings in Arykanda which lies beneath the modern Arif village of Finike, Antalya.
Within the scope of this thesis, five bath structures dated to the Late Antiquity were discussed, detailed architectural definitions were made, building phases were determined, and they were dated using archaeological data.
It is understood that two of the five baths built in the early 4th-mid 4th century AD in the Late Antique District were in the status of semi-private baths directly related to the villa. VI. Bath belongs to Pierios House, and the Inscribed House Bath belongs to the House with Atrium. In addition, it is understood that the V. Bath in the insula of the House with Atrium was allocated for the use of slaves or workers. Naltepesi Bath, on the other hand, was a public bath in its first phase, and was converted into a villa bath in its second phase. For this reason, bath structures are handled within the general residential and settlement architecture. Apart from these four baths, the VII. Bath, which was built as an independent structure from the residences, was suggested to be reserved for the use of the church or the military.
In this study, the Late Antique baths in the Lycian region and its surroundings, as well as in the Capital and Anatolia, are also included in the discussion. In this context, the bath architecture of the Late Antiquity Period, the social and cultural role of the baths, and the formal and functional changes in the buildings were discussed comparatively.
