The aim of this study is to examine the effect of humor in organizations on knowledge hiding behavior through the mediating role of organizational climate. The study is based on a research conducted with 229 employees working in both public and private sectors, most of which reside in Ankara. For data collection, three questionnaires on types of humor, types of organizational climate and types of knowledge hiding have been applied and the participants have been asked the answer the corresponding questions.
Within the scope of the study, the effect humor has been traced through focusing on two particular types of humor: aggressive and affiliative. With the mediating role of the negative interaction and communication dimension of the organizational climate, aggressive humor has been found to affect the evasive hiding and playing dumb dimensions of knowledge hiding, while in terms of affiliative humor no such significant outcome has been reached.
At the end of the study, the findings of the research, its limitations, and suggestions for future research are presented.
