Mühendislik Mesleğinin Profesyonelleşme Düzeyi ve Mühendisler İçin Y Teorisi Varsayımlarının Geçerliliği
Abstract
Professions that have an important role in division of labor at the society and professionals like doctors or lawyers who are members of these professions are regarded as a substantially differentiated group from other employees due to their professional knowledge and expertise. This difference can easily be observed from both the autonomy they have during the decision making process and their respectability in the society or the relatively high wages they get. Therefore it is generally preferred to act according to the McGregor s (1960) Y Theory at management of professionals.Professionalization level of engineering and validity of Y Theory assumptions for engineers are evaluated according to the model generated on a sample of engineers in Turkey. As a result of this evaluation, it is concluded that engineers should be considered as semi professionals and there is a significant relationship between professionalization level and validity of Y Theory assumptions for engineers.
