Unsal E, Evaluation of sensory processing in children with congenital brachial plexus injury, Hacettepe University Graduate School of Health Sciences Occupational Therapy Programme Master Thesis, Ankara, 2020. The aim of this study was to evaluate the sensory processing function in children with DBPY. 71 children with DBPY between 0-35 months who applied to Hacettepe University Faculty of Health Sciences Department of Occupational Therapy were included in the study. Demographic information was recorded for each baby and scales were completed by the caregiver. In addition, the evaluation process was completed after the test applied by the researcher to the babies whose age was appropriate. Injury types of babies were recorded according to Narakas classification. Sensory Processing 2 (DP-2) and Test of Sensory Function for Infants (TSFI) were used to evaluate the sensory processing skills of children. As a result, atypical sensory processing was detected in 36.8% of infants with DBPY aged 0-6 months. In terms of sensory and behavioral results in babies aged 7-35 months, this rate was found above 40% in general processes, auditory and visual processes. In the examination made in terms of sensory patterns of this age range, sensory avoiding and seaking patterns were the area with the highest rate of atypical performance in children with DBPY. It was found that adaptive motor functions in infants aged 4-18 months were significantly insufficient in children with DBPY. The sensory processing problems detected in DBPY in the early period will affect the development of children and therefore support sensory processing should be added to rehabilitation programs.
