Avusturya’da Yaşayan Türklerin Türkiye ile Bağları ve Evlilik Göçü
Abstract
A considerable number of the labourers sent abroad from Turkey between 1961-1974 because of the labour demand of industrially-developed European countries caused the emergence of a permanent Turkish population in these countries. Nowadays, along with labour migration and other reasons maintaining the continuity of migration, about 5 million Turks live in Western Europe, and of these, 3 million live in Germany. Austria is one of those countries where a Turkish population depending on labour migration in Europe exists. This study handles the historical condition of Turkey in the process of international migration and the formation process of the Turkish population in Austria. The study then explores the bonds of the Turkish people living in Austria with Turkey, the reasons for the continuity of migration to Austria and marriage migration based on the data obtained in a field study held in Austria in 2012.
