Tımss 2011 Türkiye Sekizinci Sınıf Matematik Başarısını Etkileyen Değişkenlerin Bölgelere Göre İncelenmesi
Abstract
In this study, using the TIMSS 2011 data, some of the variables affecting the mathematics achievement of eighth-grade students in Turkey were modeled and whether the variables showed differences among the regions according to the measurement invariance examination. In the first step, items in the student survey of TIMSS 2011 Turkey sample affecting the mathematics achievement were examined by exploratory factor analysis. After controlling assumptions, remaining 24 items were loaded into three factors including; mathematics related affective domain, home and school environment. Then, the model was established by structural equation modeling (SEM) to test the relationship between the variables in the model and students’ mathematics achievement. As a result of analysis, the measuring and the structural model fit indices that predictors of mathematics achievement were determined to test goodness of fit.
