Özet
This descriptive study was conducted to investigate college students mate selectiontendencies. The sample consisted of 1955 female (68.5%) and 1222 male (38.5%)college students, 3177 as total, attending to the some faculties and departments ofHacettepe, Ankara, Gazi, Middle East Technical and BaĢkent Universities during thespring semester of 2011-2012. To determine the mate selection tendencies of collegestudents, Mate Selection Preferences Scale (MSPS), consisting of 50 items, developedby the researcher was used. Knowledge about sociodemographic features of the collegestudents were obtained by personal data form prepared by the researcher. Gender, levelof grade, income level, preferences about mate s political and ethnic structure weresociodemographic variables, and characteristics preferred in a potential mate whoshould posses that handled as ate preferences variables.
