Romatizmal Hastalıklarda Klinik Pilates Terapinin Kinezyofobi Üzerindeki Etkinliğinin Araştırılması
Abstract
The present thesis was designed to identify the efficiency of clinical pilates therapy (CPT) on reducing fear of movement which defined as kinesiophobia on the patients who were diagnosed with rheumatological diseases. A total 34 patients were included in this study, 23 of those were in CPT group and 11 were in home program (HP) group. During six weeks patients in CPT group have been taken in exercise programme lasting for 1 hour in each session for 3 days in a week regularly. A home programme which aims reducing the existent functional disability and pain were shown for patients at HP. The intensity of exercises in both groups was increased each week steadily. Patients' socio-demographic characteristics, pain and pain related kinesiophobia, fear avoidance beliefs, function, depression, anxiety, and fatigue levels were evaluated with specific scales. At the end of the 6 weeks better results for repetative measurements of pain intensity, fear avoidance beliefs, anxiety and function were observed in CPT group (p<0.05). Difference in scores of Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia, Beck Anxiety Scale, Pain Anxiety Symptoms Scale and Fatique Severity Scale were not significant (p>0.05). For HP group in all repetative scale scores, no significant difference were determined (p>0.05). Results of this study showed that our exercise module including CPT and DT is an effective treatment option on reducing the symptoms related to fear avoidance and pain in patients diagnosed with rheumatological disease. Further study with larger number of partipicants and longer follow up periods is needed to increase the strength of evidence from these results.
