Abstract

In this thesis, adverbial functional dependent clauses detected in Old Turkic runic text is examined in terms of linguistic and grammatical method. Firstly, the ways in which the dependent sentence structures with adverbial functions in runic texts are connected to the upper - basic sentence are discussed. The adverbial clauses provided by morphological attachment paths consist of simple and complex structured suffixes. Form-syntactic binding was determined in three basic ways to connect the upper sentence. The participle-based, noun + suffix-based and finished sub-order methods are grammatical and semantic codes that mark morpho-syntactic binding. Declaration of modality, aspect and time within the dependent sentences with deterministic functions has enabled it to be evaluated as the basic sentence. The second section deals with the syntax of the adverb clauses. Syntactic analysis deals with both the elements of the adverb clauses and the positioning according to the upper - basic sentence. Syntax of adverb clauses how the subject, object and predicate elements are ordered; explain how it is positioned before, inside, and at the end of the top or base sentence. In the last part of the study, it is examined whether the modality expressions containing semantic codes exist in the adverbial clauses. In runic texts, the frequency of the structures that assume the adverbial function of the upper - basic sentence in the texts written on stone or paper, different geographical regions, centuries and ethnic identity statuses are explained. The results obtained at the end of each section are shown in tables and by graphics on the axis of the region inscriptions, so that the information is reflected more clearly.
