In this study, works that have been conducted by the
Libraries for Everyone Project which started its activities
with the slogan of “local transformation, global access”
are explained. Computer usage rates of the project
libraries' staff are also examined. Extra findings of the
“Libraries for Everyone Project Library Staff Needs and
Expectations Survey” are presented in accordance with
this aim. Moreover, capacity building efforts for the
library staff’s computer usage will be also summarized.
The Project was conducted by the Hacettepe
Technopolis-Technology Transfer Center, and funded by
the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation which is located in
Seattle, USA. As of 15 October 2016, there are 169
member libraries in the Project. Membership based on
voluntary request and we hope to reach more numbers
in the future. Transformation of the libraries into
attraction centers that can meet the user needs is
important. Contribution of the disadvantaged groups to
the library usage in different impact areas, and the
capacity building of the Turkish Librarians’ Association in
a way to take over the leadership after the Project
finalized, are among the main goals of the Project.
