Meslekte Yeni Olan İlkokul Öğretmenlerinin Sınıfta Düzeni Yeniden Sağlamaya İlişkin Uygulamaları
Özet
In this study, it is aimed to describe the experiences and practices of the novice primary school teachers, related to establishing order in their classrooms. In line with this purpose, nine primary school teachers who have less than three-years of teaching experience in a primary school at Muş city center included in the study using criterion sampling technique in the academic year of 2016-2017. Based on qualitative approach the phenomenological research method has been used in the research. Data have been collected through face-to-face interview and observations. The semi-structured interview form developed by the researcher has been used to collect data. In the observation process, the participants have been observed by the researcher with non-participant observer role and the notes have been taken in the observation form. Content analysis method has been used to analyze the data obtained from the study. As a result of the research, it was concluded that the physical and pedagogical opinions of the teachers were not sufficient. Also, student misbehaviors have been frequently observed in the classroom of each teacher. This study showed that in order to establish order in the classrooms. The teachers were mostly engaged in communication with parents. Other practices such as using questioning technique, meeting with students, differentiating activities, directing them to guidance service, and reminding the rules were rarely used. One of the prominent results of the study was that the corporal punishments were not applied by teacher. According to opinions of the classroom teachers, it was concluded that “the total duration/professional experience in the profession” was effective and significant in determining the practices for establishing order in classrooms.
