The subject of the research is to describe the knowledge, experiences and opinions of the assistant experts working in the Ministry of Family and Social Policies (Abrogated) about the concept, aims, functions, application areas and roles of social workers. In this research, it is aimed to learn the knowledge, experiences, thoughts and opinions of the assistant specialists about the concept of social work, aims, functions, application areas and roles of social workers. In addition, it is aimed to find out what information the assistant experts need when they are working in the Ministry and how they have access to this information and their thoughts and suggestions about working in the Ministry.
The research was carried out between April-December 2018 with the assistant experts working in the Ministry of Family and Social Policies (Abolished) in Ankara. In accordance with the problem and purpose of the research, a descriptive design was preferred in the screening method with quantitative data. In this context, the data was obtained by the help of a questionnaire prepared by taking the opinions of experts and 52 assistant experts who volunteered to participate in the research. The data were analyzed with frequency, average and percentage distributions techniques and IBM SPSS 23.0 package program.
According to the results of the research; it is seen that the majority of the participants have a lack of information on all issues related to social work, and the rate of benefiting from knowledge of the administrators and other experts of participiants is quite low about accessing to the necessary information. Among the goals of social work, the aim that the research participants know and experience the most is to develop social policy. While most known and working experienced function is consulting; it was found that the participants had difficulty in developing opinions and suggestions about their functions and roles. Knowledge and experience in the field of child protection is higher than in other areas of application. It is seen that the participants of the research need special training in the fields they work. As a result of the research, suggestions were developed in line with the results obtained for the training and employment of the career experts in MoFSP (Abolished).
