AB Müzakere Sürecinde Türkiye ve Almanya’daki Siyasi Söylemler: Eleştirel Bir Söylem Çözümlemesi
Özet
CAMCI, Ahmet. Political Discourses in Turkey and Germany during The EU Negotiations – A Critical Discourse Analysis. Master Thesis, Ankara, 2018.
In the year 2011, after a hawker, Mohammed Bouazizi, from Tunisia killed himself by self-immolation, civil commotions, which would be called as “Arabian Spring”, began in some Middle Eastern and North African countries such as Libya, Tunisia, Bahrain, Egypt, Syria, and Yemen. While those civil commotions caused a regime shift or government change, it caused civil wars in some countries like Syria, Yemen and Libya. Those chaoses in Middle Eastern and North African countries led the people to feel concern about economical distress and security of their lives. These incidents caused people to leave their countries for immigrating to Europe so that they could have better living conditions. Because of her geopolitical location, Turkey became a primary route of this immigration wave to Europe. First of all, her neighborhood to Syria made Turkey face with the countries of European Union and the problem of “refugee crisis” came out. Additionally, Turkey’s demands from EU to travel without visa in European countries according to the “Visa Liberalisation Dialog”, which was signed between Turkey and authorities from EU in the year 2013, are also of factors to build discourses at Turkey – EU meetings. Examining the discourses at the scope of meetings held between Turkey and EU constituted the main subject of this study. By this study, news from “Hurriyet” and “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung” newspapers have been examined how the discourses from meetings between Turkey and EU were reflected to the public and how they affected Turkish – German relationships during EU Negotiations Progress via Critical Discourse Analysis Method. At the examination process of those media outlets, it has been investigated how they differentiate the subjects from news contents when they reproduce news texts. It has been figured out that the objectivity of plain news hadn’t been changed significantly by the media outlet which prepares the news. By pointing out dominant discourses in news texts, Teun van Dijk’s critical discourse analysis method is an important method applied also on this study.
