The main objective of this study is to develop a mobile technology-based learning environment that will improve the cognitive and social skills of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and to test its effectiveness. For this purpose, a tablet application using the story map method based on social stories was developed. As cognitive skill, listening comprehension, as social skill, social communication skill were studied. Mobile social story map was presented with animated narrative and non-animated narrative support and the effectiveness and efficiencies of the two methods on both listening comprehension and social communication skills were compared. The model of the study was alternating treatments design which is one of the single subject research models. The participants of the study consisted of three children aged between 6 and 7 years with ASD diagnosis. Effectiveness efficiency and social validity data were collected in the study. Research findings showed that mobile social story maps contribute to the development of social communication skills and listening comprehension skills of children with ASD. Animated narrative or non-animated narrative methods of mobile social story maps did not differ in terms of effectiveness. In terms of efficiency, while there was no difference between two methods in one participant, mobile narrative-supported mobile social story maps were more efficient in two participants. At the end of the study, both the parents and the teachers who participated in the study stated that they had a positive opinion that the practice was contributing to children.
