This study aimed to investigate digital literacy experiences of the elderly people
through workshop-based digital storytelling (DST). The digital storytelling workshop
started with eight elderly volunteers who live in a nursing home. In this study, which
is based on case study, one of the qualitative research techniques, the data was
collected by the researcher through observation and semi-structured interviews
during the workshop process. Individual, descriptive and content analysis were used
to analyze the collected data. The results of the data analysis pointed out that digital
literacy experiences of elderly people were differentiated in the DST workshop
process. Especially the participants who experienced computers for the first time
claimed that they got proud of themselves and happy with these activities during this
process. It was determined that the opinions of the elderly who have negative views
towards technology in the process of DST have changed positively. In addition to
digital literacy experiences of the elderly people, their lives about DST were also
investigated. One of the participants said that they added five years to their life with
the pleasure they received during the DST process. In this study, the relationship of
elder people with technology, how their digital literacy experiences in DST process
are shaped, and the reflections of the elderly in DST process have been examined
and it was concluded that they are willing to learn the technology when they are
provided with suitable environment and given opportunities
