Purpose of the research to examine the intentions of safe science using the Planned Behavior Theory of science and teacher candidates. The research was carried out in five geographical regions of Turkey (Central Anatolia Region, Black Sea Region, Mediterranean Region, Eastern Anatolia Region and Southeastern Anatolia Region) with science teachers in Turkey and 2016-2017 academic year spring semester and with teacher candidates. Relational search model was used in the study. In the study, the “Scale of Performing Safe Laboratory Use” developed by the researcher as foreseen by the behavioral theory was used. As a result of the pilot application, Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficients were calculated for factor analysis and all dimensions and subscales of the scale. In the actual application, a total of 3492, 2405 science teachers and 1087 pre service science teachers, were selected. SPSS 21 and AMOS 23 programs were used for the analysis of the data. The data obtained from the scales were evaluated by structural equation modeling. The Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient for all of the scales ranged from .960, and the Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficients for the scale subscales ranged from .915 to .974.
As a result of the research, it was determined that the "Behavioral Attitude" and "Subjective Norm" effects were the lowest in terms of "Perceived Behavior Factor" in describing "Behavioral Purpose" of science teachers. According to the regions; While the "Subjective Norm" and "Perceived Behavior Control" are effective in explaining the "Behavioral purpose" in the Mediterranean region, "Perceived Behavior Control" alone is effective in Eastern Anatolia, Aegean, Southeast and Central Anatolia regions; In the Black Sea and Marmara regions, "Perceived Behavior Control" and "Attitude towards Behavior" have reached the same level of effect. The gender of the teachers, the regions they work in, the graduation statuses, the road coefficients are close to each other; but according to their length of service, it was seen that there were differences in explaining the "Purpose of Behavior”.
For science teacher candidates; The "Perceived Behavior Control", "Attitude towards Behavior" and "Subjective Norm" and "Behavior Purpose" statements are also influential. According to the region, "Attitude toward Behavior" in the Central Anatolia region, "Perceived Behavior Control" in the Black Sea region while the "Subject Norm" in the Mediterranean region is effective in explaining the "Behavioral purpose"; In the Eastern and Southeastern Anatolian regions, "Subjective Norm" and "Attitude towards Behavior" are influential. There were differences in explaining the "Behavioral purpose" according to demographic variables.
