Bagcivan, G., The Study of Turkish Reliability and Validity of Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy-Palliative Care (FACIT-Pal) Scale, Hacettepe University Graduate School Health Science Epidemiology Program Master of Science Thesis, Ankara, 2018. This methodological study aimed to analyze the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy-Palliative Care (FACIT-Pal) Scale which is one of the palliative care-specific quality of life scales widely used in clinical research. The study was conducted in two phases, between July-August 2016 and July 15, 2017- March 15, 2018 in Medical Oncology/Hematology departments in Gulhane Training and Research Hospital and Dr. Abdurrahman Yurtaslan Ankara Oncology Hospital. A total of 232 cancer patients admitted to hospitals where the study was conducted and agreed to participate in the study were included in the study. Karnofsky Performance Scale (KPS), Edmonton Symptom Assessment Scale and the Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy-Palliative Care (FACIT-Pal) Scale were used as data collection tools in the study. According to the results of the analyzes assessed for validity, of "coverage", "surface", "criterion" and "structure" validity, it is accepted that the scale is a "valid" scale for assessing the palliative care-specific quality of life of cancer patients. The five-factor structure of the Turkish form of FACIT-Pal scale with 45-item was verified in accordance with the original. In the analysis made with the aim of evaluating the reliability of the FACIT-Pal scale (45 items) the Cronbach Alpha value calculated was 0.932 for the scale. Furthermore, for the scale, test-retest reliability analysis revealed a significant positive correlation between test-retest scale scores. As a result, this scale is considered to be a "reliable" scale that can be used in the relevant area. Turkish form of the FACIT-Pal scale can be used with the aim of assesment and monitoring the palliative care-specific quality of life in cancer patients.
