Alzheimerlı Hasta ve Hasta Yakınlarının Yaşam Kalitesinin Ölçülmesi ve Hastalığın Hasta Yakınlarına Olan Yükü

Alzheimer’s Disease is a neurological and therminal illness which is quite common due to the decrease of young population and the increase of elderly population in the world in recent years. Alzheimer’s patients do not get better completely. For this reason, their disease become more serious every day. Because of the fact that the caregivers have great responsibilities in mental and moral distances, in the survey, the researcher has investigated Alzheimer’s patients, caregivers not only financially but also from the point of moral burdens. The survey has been realized 100 Alzheimer’s caregivers in Geriatrics department in Hacettepe University Hospital. In these interviews, the researcher has done some surveys. The surveys have been about caregivers fatigues, caregiving burdens and their life quality. In the surveys, the researcher has used Mann Whitney U Test between each measures and descriptive findings. In the survey, %79 of the participants are female, %57 of the participants are under the age of 55, %58 of the participants graduated from high schools or primary schools or uneducated and %70 of the participants are not working. Moreover, %57 of the participants have at least one health problem. The mentioned health problems are about cardio-vascular system. A large part of participants have claimed that their patients depend on them. Especially, female participants feel limited in their private lives, isolated relationships, financial burden and more devoted to their patients than male participants. A large part of participants have added what their patients feel and their personal success on their patients. Female participants experience emotional exhaustion more than male participants, but male participants become depersonalizationed than female participants. All participants have believed that their patients have depression and anxiety. Male participants have better life quality than female participants.
