The thesis entitled “Folk Tale in Çankırı” is composed of field work, recordings of the compilations and the
analyses of the folk tale texts using the methods of folklore. To do this, the thesis is divided into five chapters. Tn
the Introduciton, the aim of the Çankırı folk tale tradition and its importance as well as the history of the folktale
studies are mentioned.
In the first chapter, the concept of the folk tale, its chareacteristics and components have been explicated through
examples from Çankırı folk tales, and contextual data to be used in the research part of the thesis has been reached.
In the second chapter, related examples from the technology, in which there is popular folk tales have been
presented to display the sense of folk tales today.
In the third chapter, socio- cultural, historical, demographical and economic characteristics of Çankırı are handled,
and thesis about have been demonstrated.
In the fourth chapter literature review analysed throughly and tradition of Çankırı folk tales has been put forward
within the context of narrato audience. In this context; problems which have been come across during compilation
studies, the attitudes of the natives to the researchers, time, location and context of the Çankırı folk tales have been
underlined.
In the conclusion, the general structure of the Çankırı folk tales has been analyzed in terms of the fomulas,
digressions and use of folk literature elements. In this chapter, type classification anf motif index components of
the related folk tales text have been included.
A functional analysis of the Çankırı folk tales according to the socio- cultural characteristics in the narratoraudience has been achieved in the conclusion.
