Scientific literacy means obtaining individuals who can solve the problems encountered while accessing information and examine the accuracy of information. Acquiring this skill by prospective teachers makes it easier for them to solve problems both in their professional and daily lives. Therefore, this research aimed to determine the scientific literacy skills of prospective biology teachers. For this purpose, research was conducted with prospective biology teachers studying at Hacettepe University. Parallel mixed method was used in the research. In the first stage of the research, a skill test was applied and frequency and percentage analysis were performed. In the second stage of the research, 18 volunteers were selected from prospective biology teachers who participated in this test. With the selected volunteers, the scientific literacy skills application form obtained from the content of the skill test was distributed to the teacher candidates and the obtained data was transferred to the computer environment for content analysis. After the two stages were completed, semi-structured interviews were held with the prospective teachers to learn what this research brought to them, and the data was transferred to the computer environment for content analysis. As a result, it was concluded that 3% (2 people) of the 73 biology teacher candidates who participated in the skill test had high scientific literacy skills, 79% (58 people) had medium level scientific literacy skills, and 18% (13 people) had low level scientific literacy skills. has been made. While 12 of the 18 biology teacher candidates who participated in the second phase of the research continued their scientific literacy levels in the skill test in the scientific literacy skills application form, a difference was observed between the skill test and scientific literacy skills application form of 6 teacher candidates. Finally, it is thought that the research has contributed to the prospective teachers in terms of the data obtained from the interview questions and that interest in this subject will increase with the increase in research conducted.
