Düzenli ve Düzensiz Bir Diyalektik İçinde Optik Sanat
Özet
Everything in nature appears in the human mind through images; these images are subjective abstractions of the appearances in the outside world. Even if objects in nature are systematically established in a certain order, mental images and physical images may not coincide in this context. Life is based on dynamism and images are dynamic in daily perception. The issue of establishing these images through art has been one of the main pursuits of art. If we look at the history of art, Op art has also developed a composition language based on high contrasts in this installation.
At the time of its emergence, op art attracted attention with a different discourse compared to other art-making method in its period. Op art is a form of production that aims to directly involve the audience, based on the perception principles of the eye. Op art, which creates visual illusions, focused on the perception principles of the eye, created works with a strong illusionary effect, creating visual illusions in which the audience directly participates in the work, pushing the limits of the eye and mind by using dynamics and movement. The artist tends to visualize the world he/she perceives rather than the world he/she sees. It can be argued that this desire arises from the need to reveal the reality behind the object. The thesis titled Optical Art in a Regular and Irregular Dialectic deals with in the context of Optical Art. Relationships of art has been tried to be explained with works produced under the title of Alternative Searches Against Image Inflation. Within the scope of this thesis, a dialectic will be established between the works by trying to pull them into an unstable area with optical manipulation methods, as the images that are dynamically side by side in the act of seeing under normal conditions are dispersed regularly and irregularly. In this thesis, the relations between art history and different art disciplines with the concepts here have been tried to be explained.
