This thesis examines the themes of spirituality search, inner journey and poetic affect in the context of art perceptions and personal approaches in different periods and geographies. In this study, which is based on the phenomenon of spirituality, the reflections of belief systems in Eastern and Western art traditions on painting art are investigated. In addition, the ways in which artists in the Modern and Contemporary art periods, where individual narratives gained importance, handled the phenomena of spirituality and affect in their art practices are emphasized, and the artists' productions are examined and associated with their personal life stories.
In the first section titled Poetic Affect, the concept of poeticness and the content of works with poetic atmosphere are examined, while in the section titled ‘Emptiness’, how the element of emptiness is shaped in the spiritual perspectives of Eastern and Western art is examined. In the second section titled ‘Search for Spirituality’, works created through color, mountain and symbolism are examined. The expression of spirituality and affect forms in art constitutes the main focus of the thesis process.
