With the widespread use of the Internet, it can be said that the ease of accessing and sharing information has become a standard in daily life. As a result of the increasing interest in video games available on many devices ranging from cell phones to computers and consoles, and the market share of the gaming industry surpassing other entertainment sectors, the entertainment industry has turned to video games rather than the usual options such as movies or books. Over the years, video games have gradually increased their interaction with players with better graphics, sound effects and game mechanics in parallel with the realism offered. This development has made it easier for people who enjoy playing video games to communicate with each other through social media and entertainment platforms such as Facebook, Discord or YouTube, as well as online gaming services such as Steam, Xbox Live and Playstation Network. It can be argued that the ease of access offered to gamers by these social networks has increased the interest in video games. The connection between video games and visual novels can be explained by the fact that both provide a narrative experience. Visual novel players have the chance to create their own personal experience through the mechanics and interactive storytelling associated with their games. They use the story presented to them and the choices they can make around the story to create this experience.
This thesis titled "The Importance of Player Experience in the Development of Visual Novels and Visual Novel Experiment" aims to comprehensively explore the potential of visual novels, to define various areas of use, and to reveal potential usage scenarios of the visual novel genre. An application project will be developed in line with the knowledge gained in the process of recognizing the visual novel. The project will embody and reflect the main characteristics of visual novels.
