In this study, it was aimed to examine the effectiveness of behavioral skills training supported
by video visual scene displays on the teaching of online sexual abuse coping skills to
individuals with autism spectrum disorder. Three male participants between the ages of 21-23
were studied in the study, in which multiple probe across participants experimental design,
which is one of the single-subject research models, was used. The baseline and probe
sessions of the research were carried out online, and the practice sessions were held in
institutions where individuals with autism spectrum disorder received education.
Generalization sessions to determine whether the participants in the research generalize their
ability to cope with online sexual abuse they acquired to different people; Maintenance
sessions were held two and four weeks after the end of the teaching sessions to determine
whether they retained the target skill they had acquired. The findings of the study revealed that
all participants acquired the ability to cope with online sexual abuse, generalized the acquired
skill to different people, and maintained it after the end of the training. In the study, social
validity data were also collected from the participants, their families and teachers by adopting
a subjective evaluation approach, and it was observed that both the participants, their families,
and their teachers had generally positive opinions about the target skill, behavioral skills
training in which the video visual scene displays application was presented at the modeling
stage, and the results obtained.
