Abstract

This study report, titled "The Evaluation of Synesthesia Phenomenon as Art Object", consists of three main parts. Perception is the state that allows us to connect with the world around us based on the senses we receive, and allows us to accept the existence of events or objects. Our senses play a vital role in establishing this connection. Synesthesia is a condition in which the senses work together to enhance and diversify perception, resulting in a unique experience of the world. In order to better understand this phenomenon, it is necessary to examine the subject of perception in depth.

In the first chapter titled "Perception"; The concept of perception, which is the state of cognition that we obtain through impression on an event or situation, has been examined in general. The types of perception created by our sense organs, which play a major role in human perception, the thoughts of philosophers who have made some theoretical approaches in perception, perception disorders caused by situations such as hallucinations and illusions, the aesthetic attitude and artistic perception of artists, unlike ordinary people, are the subtitles of this section.

In the second chapter titled "The Case of Synesthesia", information is given about the perception of the senses together, the phenomenon of synesthesia, which is also known as multiple perception, and the types of synesthesia are emphasized, and the artists who have the phenomenon of synesthesia are mentioned; Examples of his works made in line with this phenomenon are given. This section was supported by mentioning the artists who produced works on multi-perception experiences in art and worked on them.

In the third part, which continues with personal ceramic applications, “On Perception and Synesthesia”; personal studies were examined in two sections as “Applications for Human Perception in the Context of Synesthesia” and “Applications Made in the Light of Synesthesia”. The original use and applications of perception and synesthesia in ceramic forms are included.
