The relationship between art, science, and technology became closer with the wave
of modernism and industrialization. Modernism has created a climate of
individualization that has spread all over the world, paving the way for opportunities
such as creating and patenting new technological inventions. Artists were also
affected by these developments. After the 1960s, artists started to make
interdisciplinary studies with disciplines other than fine arts.
Rapidly developing technology in the last 20 years has enabled great progress in the
field of virtual reality. The studies on the subject are gathered under the title of
Virtual Reality. Virtual reality offers exciting new possibilities for artists. Thanks to
game engines, 3D modeling, and animation programs, these possibilities are
becoming more and more promising every day. It is thought that understanding the
possibilities and properly defining the term virtual reality will be possible by
evaluating the historical background of the innovation. Within the framework of this
information, the studies carried out within the scope of the thesis report will be
placed on a ground and the technical and intellectual justifications of the artworks
made in VR space will be attempted to be expressed.
