The aim of this study is to research the feminist foreign policy, especially the example of
Sweden, which initiated this initiative, and to conduct a debate on the future of feminist
foreign policy including the recent criticisms. Understanding the feminist foreign policy
discourse put forward by the Swedish government in 2014 and the place of women in the
field of International Relations is the subject of this study. In this thesis, countries that
have adopted a feminist foreign policy, especially Sweden, were evaluated and a common
feminist foreign policy discourse was examined within the theoretical framework. The
unique aspects of Sweden's feminist foreign policy have been analyzed and its practices
have been critically evaluated. In this thesis, a discussion was conducted on the pros and
cons of Sweden's feminist foreign policy. All these discussions continued within the
framework of the themes of gender mainstreaming and norm entrepreneurship.
As a result of this study, it has been concluded that Sweden maintains a norm entrepreneurial policy in this field within the framework of gender mainstreaming and it
is concluded that Sweden's contradiction in implementing reelpolitics and feminist
foreign policy jeopardizes the future of feminist foreign policy.
