TÖRE, Maral, Morphophonology in Turkmen, Master’s Thesis, Ankara, 2017.
Turkmen Language, which belongs to the Oghuz group of the Turkic languages and protects and maintains some of the arcaic features even today, is a Turkic written language developed under the influence of the Chagatai Language. Turkmen, which is the best protector of the primary prolonged vowels, managed to take attention with the secondary long vowels, which is formed as the suffix attached, and the other morphophonological sound events. Studies of general phonetics and other sound events of Turkmen, which are made till now, are thought to be insufficient for putting the Turkmen phonology forth with its all details and with this study; we intend to contribute to the studies which are going to be made in the future.
This study has been done in order to introduce the morphophonological alternations simultaneously, which happens as the suffixes attach to the stem or the other suffixes of Turkmen, by using literary works also. Examples in the browsed works, which were noticed that they are related to our subject, were tried to demonstrate with transcription. With this method; the differences of the morphophonological alternations, which exist in the standard writing and speaking languages, was tried to prove. Furthermore; at the necessary states, in order to make the subject easily understandable, there can be found some comments about the sound events’ situation in the Turkish Language.
