In this
study, it was aimed to examine the opinions and use cases of child development
specialists working in the hospital about the hospital preparation programs. Snowball
sampling method was used in the research carried out according to the mixed method
research and 152 child development specialists were reached. As a data collection tool,
the "Hospital Preparation Programs Opinion Form", which was formed by taking the
opinions of 5 field experts and 2 statistics experts. Opinion form; It consists of
demographic and general information that all participants must answer, specific
information about the programs answered by the participants who implement the
program, the information answered by the participants who stated that they do not
implement the program, and open-ended questions asked for all participants. The data
were analyzed with descriptive statistical methods. According to the fresults; 4 out of
152 participants work in hospital kindergarden and child protect centers. Opinions
about programs were obtained from 148 child development specialists working in the
relevant units. The majority of the participants took courses on child and hospital
during their undergraduate period and had the opportunity to do internship in a health
institution. 42.1% of the participants stated that they prepared a program during their
undergraduate education, 35.8% reported that they felt adequate in the theoretical
aspects of programs but insufficient in practice, and that they could not apply the
program mostly due to the busyness of the units. The data of 4 participants who stated
that they applied a program were examined with content analysis methods, and 3 main
themes obtained."The child's reactions to hospital life", "Benefits of programs" and
"Solution suggestions for the effective use of programs". The results were discussed
and interpreted in the light of the literature
