Isparta Ovası'ndaki Volkanik Zeminlerin Jeo-Mühendislik Karakterizasyonu ve Mekanik Davranışının Araştırılması
Abstract
It is known that there are a quite limited number of researchs on volcanic soils, which are a transition form between soft rocks and soils, and their mechanical behaviours are different than those of other soils. The ground at Isparta city center is comprised of volcanic soils deposited as layers which derived from the Gölcükvolcanism. This study aims to perform geo-engineering characterization of the volcanic soils at Isparta settlement, to investigate their collapse potential and shear failure behaviour and to recommend empirical relationships for predicting the uniaxial compressive strength from the properties determined from simple laboratory tests. It is considered that based on this study, some contributions to mechanical behaviours of such soils and local site conditions in Isparta would be provided. Within the scope of the study; physical, geomechanical and microstructural properties of the volcanic soil were determined, empirical relationships using statistical analyses were developed, collapse and shear failure
behaviour of the soil were assessed, analysis for the stability of the slopes
excavated in this soil were conducted and finally geo-engineering properties of the
investigated volcanic soil was compared to those studied in some other countries.
