With this study called “Video Installation: Space and Image Surfaces”, it is aimed to examine technical and contextual content of the studies developed on nourishing from the space and alienating and imitating it. In parallel with this content and as a part of it, the works of Turkish artists are included under the Video Installation title. The periods when Video Art’s effort to exist and mature as a sub-discipline and a medium in the field of art in Turkey were examined. By researching artists who carried out their studies on different perspectives and topics in these periods, parallel readings were made on the studies that were the subject of the postgraduate report.
In this study, there is a prologue aimed towards acquiring general knowledge about Video Art and the history of moving image. Afterwards in the same chapter, the production dynamics and the techniques of the works designed on space are examined, and in parallel with this, Turkish artists who are positioned in a decent place regarding Video Art, who resounded on both national and international platforms, were focused on along with people who may not be as well-known as them but who made innovative jobs on Video Art in Turkey and their studies.
This study aims to reveal artists who choose image recording and image writing units as instruments in their production procedures, and who make an effort to convey their concepts to their practical areas via opportunities of this medium through both verbal and technical narratives, through literature survey and sample studies.
