The thesis entitled The Construction of National Identity in the Novels of Writers Circassian Abhazian (Abhaz) Origin, examines the novels written by Circassians and Abhazian (Abhaz) writers in Turkish.
In fifty-two novels written between 1875-2021, basic problems were determined in the course of "identity", "sub-identity", "other" "identification" "assimilation" "tradition". The Circassian and Abhaz definitions used in this study are based on how the authors describe themselves and their characters. The identity discourse of the writers who define themselves as Circassian or Abhaz were emphasized. Depending on the identification and identification problem; the handling of situations and problems such as ethnic cultural elements, othering, cultural conflict, cultural interaction, adaptation-incompatibility process, language loss, expressing and protecting core values and the reviving of the social memory, were rewieved.
In the thesis titled The Construction of National Identity in the Novels of Writers Circassian Abhazian (Abhaz) Origin, it was tried to clarify the effect of literature on the construction of national identity with the aforementioned understanding. Since the works covered include a long and complex historical process and are diaspora-oriented, the perspective of diasporic identity has been tried to be determined. How customary rules, religious, political, historical events and cultural interaction affect this view; the place of the novel in the construction of identity and the transformation of literature into a means of expressing themselves in the public sphere for ethnic groups were discussed.
