Within the scope of this thesis, the pollen morphology of 15 species (Ornithogalum armeniacum Baker, O. comosum L., O. fimbriatum Willd., O. isauricum, O.D. Düşen & Sümbül, O. lanceolatum Labill, O. malatyanum Mutlu, O. montanum Cirillo, O. nallihanense Yıld. & Doğru-Koca, O. nivale Boiss., O. orthophyllum Ten., O. pascheanum Speta, O. refractum Kit. ex Schltdl, O. sigmoideum Freyn & Sint, O. umbellatum L., O. wiedemannii Boiss.) belonging to Ornithogalum L. (Subgenus Ornithogalum Baker) naturally distributed in Turkey was determined in detail. Pollen preparations were prepared by acetolysis method from flowering samples obtained from various herbariums in our country. Morphological properties of pollen were examined by light microscopy (LM) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Microphotographs of pollen belonging to each taxon were taken.
As a result of the examinations made under the light microscope, it was observed that the pollen dimensions, sulcus length and sulcus width of the examined species differ from species to species.
It was determined that aperture type of pollen belonging to Ornithogalum L. (Subgenus Ornithogalum Baker) examined was monosulcate, pollen shapes were oblate and suboblate, exine ornemantation was foveolate-perforate. According to the data obtained as a result of this study, pollen definitions of taxa were made and identification key was prepared.
