This study includes the multi-layered analysis of the unmetered folk song of the Şarkışla region, which is included in the TRT Turkish Folk Music Repertoire. Accordingly, the geographical features, historical past, social behaviors and cultural practices of Sarkisla were revealed by researching the interactions of music culture and especially unmetered folk songs. In addition; the maqam, melodic route (seyir), form and oral elements of the unmetered folk songs of the Şarkışla region are explained with in the line of analysis.
The aim of the study is to make multi-layered analysis of the unmetered folk songs belonging to the province of Sivas, Şarkışla, in the TRT Turkish Folk Music Repertoire, and to reveal the reflections of the local culture on music and the relationship between music and culture through this analysis. The study is considered important in that it is the first study in this context, contributes to the local music culture and performance, and sets an example for other researchers working in this field. This study is limited to 16 unmetered folk songs from Sivas province Şarkışla district, which were determined in TRT Turkish Folk Music Unmetered Folk Songs Repertory in 2019. In addition, it was assumed that these identified works were transferred from the compilation records to the notes. In this study, which has a descriptive research model using the scanning model, the findings were interpreted by making the multi-layered analysis of the recordings of the unmetered folk songs belonging to the district of Şarkışla, Sivas, and the notes written from these recordings, which are included in the TRT Turkish Folk Music Repertory.
