In this study of art report of master degree, it is aimed to examine the effects of the gentrification process in Turkey by which the city has changed, and the social memory has disappeared. Thus, its effect on art and artists is examined. In line with this purpose, in the first part, the effects of gentrification on the city and society are examined and the stages together with the development of the gentrification movement are discussed. As a result of this process; the city dwellers who were displaced and experienced spatial exclusion were studied in the context of the subject and memory loss was investigated. With these results, the roles of the artists in this process were examined. While it was stated that the artists' positive attitude as a pioneer in the gentrification movement accelerated the process, the negative attitude they took against this process was also explained.
In the second part, construction of the destroyed social memory through artworks has been examined. As a case study Ankara and Istanbul are examined. The applied works produced during the art study on this subject are presented in the context of memory, space, and artist relations.
