Alzheimer Demans Hastalarında Egzersiz Eğitiminin Fonksiyonellik Üzerine Etkilerinin Incelenmesi
Abstract
In this study, the effectiveness of exercise training were investigated in patient with diagnosed Alzheimer Disease (AD). 34 people were included the study and these people were divided into two groups. First group was AD group which had 16 people and the second gruop was named as control group wihch had 18 people. Both of these gruops were applied exercise training program for16 weeks. Within the exercise tranining program, the exercises which had strengthening, flexibility and balance parameters. The exercise programs were planned as 30-45 minutes per a day and three times a week. When the exercise were applied a day in a week under the physiotherapist control in Gulhane Military Medicine Academy, Department of the Geriatrics, the other two days exercises were performed as home-based with supervised related of the cases. The cases' Socio-Demographic Information, Mini Mental State Examination, Postural Evaluation, Sensory Test, Muscle Strength, Tinetti Gait and Balance Test, Timed-Up and Go Test, Tinetti Falls Efficacy Scale, Gait Speed Measurement Test, Activities of Daily Living, Quality of Life and Insulin Resistance were recorded in the baseline, 4.week, 12.week and 16.week of the study. After the exercise training program in AD group, while there were no statistically significant difference in upper extremity sensory test, Tinetti Gait and Balance Test, Activity of Daily Living and quality of life (p>0,05), there were significant difference in the all of the other evaluations. Besides this within the exercise program, compared the gruops with each other, it was showed that, the control group had better results in quality of life but, the AD group got the higher score in Mini Mental State Examination, Gait Speed Measurement Test, Timed-Up and Go Test, Hand-Grip Strength and Lower Extremity Sensation Test than control group (p<0,05). Acocordingly, we concluded that it is important using exercise training programs for treatments of patients with AD with multidisciplinary approaches.
