Üniversite Öğrencilerinin Fiziksel Aktivite Durumları ile Sağlıklı Beslenme İndekslerinin Değerlendirilmesi
Abstract
This studywasconducted in
fouruniversities in Ankara, withtheaim of
evaluatingthephysicalactivitylevelsandnutritionalhabits of universitystudents.
Thesamplecomprised of 1000 universitystudents, %52.6 (n: 526) weremalesand
%47.4 (n: 475) werefemales.
Data on general characteristics of thestudentswerecollected, self-reported body
weightsandheightswererecordednutritionalhabitsweredeterminedbyfoodpropensityqu
estionnaireand 2 daysphysicalactivityrecallsweredeterminedwith a questionnaire.
Alsodataonthequality of thedietwascollectedwith a MediterraneanDietQuality
Index(KIDMED)questionnaireand 7 daysphysicalactivityprofilesby an International
PhysicalQuestionnaire ( IPAQ). Mean (±SD) ageand body massindex (BMI)of
themaleswere22.5±3.4 yearsand 23.3±3.4 kg/m²andfemaleswere 21.6±2.7
yearsand 20.9±2.6 kg/m², respectively. Majority of thestudents (70.2% of malesand
74.9% of females)had normal BMIvalues (≥18.5-<24.9 kg/m). Of thesample, 4.6%
and 63.3% of themales, 5.5% and 48.5% of thefemalesshowedhigh (>8) andverylow
(<3)KIDMED indexresults.Out of total, 31.2% of malesand 30.6% of
femaleswereliving in sedentarylifestyle. Total physicalactivitylevelswerecalculated
as 1786.9METs-min/weekformalesand 1699.2 METs-Min/weekforfemales. As a
conclusion, KIDMED scoresand IPAQ resultswere not satisfactory. Therefore,
efficientpoliciesshould be developedandawareness of
theuniversitystudentstoperformhealthynutritionalhabitsandtoincreasethephysicalactiv
itylevelsshould be increased.
