Kanser Hastalığı Olan Bireye Bakım Veren Yakınlarının Yaşam Kalitesi
Abstract
This research was carried out as a descriptive study for defining quality of life of the relatives who take care of a cancer patient. It was done in five university hospitals, four government hospitals and two private hospitals which have daytime treatment unit, in city of Ankara. Sampling of research consists 378 people who are the relatives of cancer patients having treatment in these hospitals and only one relative is accepted as a sample for every patient. In data collection Patient Relatives Information Form which was prepared by researcher and Quailty of Life- Family Version which was adapted to Turkish by Okçin were used. SPSS 20.0 Windows Package Program was used for statistical analysis of study. Descriptive Statistics, Mann-Whitney U Test and Kruskal Wallis One-Way ANOVA analysis were used for statistical analysis. According to findings of the research mean score of total quality of life point of the relatives of cancer patient was calculated as 4.81 ±1.64. Mean score of points of sub scalees are; 5.42±1.89 for psycohologic and spiritual health situation, 5.54±2.23 for physical health situation, 3.01±2.07 for approach to diagnosis situation and 4.69±2.20 for support and economically effected situation. It was found that females, people who have not a job, people who have low income and people who live at the same home with the patient have lower mean scores of quality of life points than males, people who have a job, people who have high income and people who don’t live at the same home, respectively. According to these results, it is recommended giving and disseminating consultancy by consultation liaison psychiatry nurses in hospitals in order to reduce negative affects of the factors which affect the quality of life.
