Şanlıurfa'da Geç Osmanlı Dönemi Kamu Yapıları (Mektepler Ve Hastaneler)
Özet
This study is intended to examine architectural characteristics of schools and hospitals built in the 19th and early twentieth century in Şanlıurfa. Şanlıurfa has always been a historically-important city with its geographical, cultural, demographic and commercial structure. Ruled temporarily or permanently by many civilizations throughout history, the city was finally conquered by the Ottoman in 1517. In the city, where there are many madrasahs, infants schools, primary schools, high schools were founded in the 19th century and military high schools, art schools and girls schools in the early 20th century in parallel with Ottoman centralization and westernisation policies. In addition to these, France, the USA and Germany founded schools and workshops in the 19th century and Italia in the early twentieth century for non-Muslims, especially the Armenian, within the activities of missionary.
