The main objective of this research was to investigate endogenous and exogenous attentional processes in terms of emotional contexts and the location of target stimulus.The research was conducted with the 28 voluntary participants (14 females and 14 males) who had consulted to the Department of Geropsychiatry in Ankara University Faculty of Medicine and were diagnosed with Alzheimer Type of Dementia (ATD), with the age range of 69-90 years. The participants were applied the spatial cueing paradigm which were created by means of E-prime stimulus preparation programme. In the research, 2 (Type of attention: endogenous, exogenous) x 3 (Type of trial: valid, invalid, neutral) x 2 (Emotional context: positive, negative) x 2 (Target location: right, left) repeated measures experimental design was used. Dependent variable measures were the mean reaction time and accuracy given to the target stimulus. The analyses of the reaction time and accuracy were performed by means of 2x3x2x2 ANOVA.
