Trans Kadınlar için Transseksüel Ses Ölçeği Türkçe Versiyonunun Geçerlik ve Güvenirliğinin Araştırılması

Abstract

Voice-related problems of trans women may have an impact on their quality of life. In voice evaluation of trans women, tools that assess self-perceptions are quite important and among these tools, the Transsexual Voice Questionnaire (TVQ) is commonly preferred one. In the present study, following adaptation of the Turkish version of the TVQ which was previously translated into 12 languages; it was aimed to investigate the validity and reliability. The adaptation of TVQ was carried out in accordance with the procedure recommended by the World Health Organization. Totally 41 trans women were included in the study. Following the psychiatric assessment, the participants were directed to the Speech and Language Therapy clinic, where they completed the TVQ, The Self-Perception Scale Of The Femininity (SKAS), World Health Organization Quality of Life Scale Short Form (WHOQOL-BREF-TR). The 58.5% of participants refilled the TVQ 2 weeks after the interview. Internal consistency analysis, item-total correlation and test-retest reliability methods were used to evaluate the reliability of the TVQ. In order to evaluate the validity of the questionnaire, the construct validity method was used and for this purpose the correlation between TVQ and SKAS and subdomains of WHOQOL-BREF-TR was examined. Total Cronbach's Alpha value of Turkish version of TVQ was 0.972; item-total correlation values were between 0.323-0.876. The intraclass correlation coefficient value was equal to 0.931.There was a statistically significant negative correlation between TVQ and SKAS. There was a statistically significant negative correlation between TVQ and WHOQOL-BREF-TR Sub-domains of Psychological, Environmental and Environmental TR, but there was no significant relationship between Social and Physical sub-domains. According to the findings of the study, the Turkish version of TVQ was considered to be a valid and reliable tool.
