Tales are one of the verbal culture elements that reflect the transformation, change and development of humanity in the historical process. In other words, they are the reflections of the events or situations that have happened to human. Tales, like every verbal culture product, are the totality of verbal products formed with certain patterns based on “events”, “heroes” and “symbol types”. It sometimes appears with extraordinary, uncertain time and place, style and expression different from literary genres with this structure and sometimes it forms its own world with including elements in ordinary life and its boundaries. In this study, the “pattern structure” of tales selected from Turkey and Turkish World are tried to reveal by determining "types" and "versions". The main purpose of the study is to rank the versions according to the places and time they were compiled by emphasizing the importance of types and tale versions. In this study, firstly, information of “Tale Concept”, “Type Concept”, “Spread and Version Concept” and “Pattern Concept” are briefly given and then, the theories to be used in the study and the importance of these theories in the study are discussed. The basis of the study is “Determination of Tale Types”. In order to explain how and in what way the whole tale is formed by these types, and to place them on a solid ground, the types are tried to examine in detail in second chapter titled “Determined Types in Turkish World Tales”. Following the “Conclusion” chapter, where the inferences about tales are made based on the findings obtained, “References” which contains works that shed light on the study, is included.
