Ecological thought in history exactly stems from living of primitive commune
communities, who do not directly perform art but create its soul, in harmony with the
nature. However, this thought has come to light again with destructive interferences
against the nature, Industrial Revolution and industry age. Ecology is named as a
science independent from biology as the universe is perceived with a mechanical
aspect, and the size of destruction against the nature is increased at these times.
This awareness in scientific area has shown itself in different areas, as well. The
nature is used again as a technical material with the Land Art action of a group of
American artists after this action which has affected the field of plastic arts, and a
return to the nature has been experienced with ecological art action.
This study aims to apply the concept of ecological thought and Whitehead’s process
concept to artistic studies under a single junction point. The sense of process which
is inside of the life and evolved in the nature has been systematically discussed
again by Whitehead. Philosophy of process, one of its founders is Whitehead, has
provided an insight to many disciplines, and different perspectives have been
developed by this philosophy. As the process concept developed by Whitehead in
terms of theology will be searched and applied in the field of arts in this study, it is
intended that it will bring an individuality to the study. It is intended that artistic
applications resulted in technical and thematic resolutions to be used in the study
will provide an ecological habitat by the participation of other living creatures by way
of the process.
